This service allows you to surrender your current license plate to DMV
You DO NOT need to physically surrender your plate to SCDMV. This service notifies the SCDMV that you no longer wish to operate the vehicle registered with the license plate surrendered via this service.
To complete this transaction:
- You must have your current vehicle registration in front of you
- If
your license plate is expired, you do not need to surrender your license plate.
Only active license plates can be surrendered.
If necessary, your residence, mailing and temporary addresses may be changed using the Address Change transaction BEFORE continuing with this transaction.
