The National Criminal Report
In October 2024, the SCDMV transitioned to online Dealer License Renewals only. If you have already renewed your Dealer License and need to renew or purchase demonstration plates, please visit the Dealer License Plates page for instructions. More information can be found on the Renewing a Dealer License page of our website.
You may be denied a dealer license if you have any of the following on your National Criminal Report:
- Convicted of any law violation involving the acquisition or transfer of a title to a motor vehicle or of any violation of law involving tampering with, altering, or removing motor vehicle identification numbers or markings
- Found, by a court of competent jurisdiction, to have violated any federal or state law regarding the disconnecting, resetting, altering, or other unlawful tampering with a motor vehicle odometer
It may take a minimum of three to five business days to receive the report via email. The minimum cost is $43.01.
Please reference the below South Carolina Code of Laws for additional disqualifying convictions of a dealer's license.
