Get My Driving Record
Driver Record Points Summary
You may get a summary of your driving record points for free online. This will tell you how many points are on your driving record.
Beginning April 12, 2023, motor vehicle records (MVRs) or "driving records" will have a new look. Records will no longer be printed with a watermark of the Great Seal of the State of South Carolina. The revised watermark includes a “certified” statement and the Director of Driver Services’ signature. The revised watermark will automatically be added to all MVRs, and there are no extra steps required to print an MVR. You may buy your own three-year or ten-year driving record at any time online.
To get the full report of another driver, you must have the driver's consent or have a specific reason for the information as found under the federal Driver’s Privacy Protection Act of 1994. These uses include, but are not limited to:
- Government agencies
- Businesses to verify information
- Court proceedings
- Investigations
- Insurance companies
- Commercial driver's licenses
The full report is $6. You may also request a copy by mail by completing a Request for Driver Information (SCDMV Form MV-70). Provide as much information as possible on the form and mail it to the SCDMV address on the form. Include a $6 payment made out to the SCDMV (do not mail cash).
