Trucking Communications

The SCDMV publishes the Trucking Connection newsletter in conjunction with the Payload Podcast, available on the SCDMV Communications YouTube channel, as changes to laws and policies occur. Through the Trucking Connection newsletter and Payload podcast, the agency provides information and how-to videos for motor carrier customers, from commercial driver’s licenses (CDLs) to International Registration Plan (IRP) and International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA) accounts.

The SCDMV Motor Carrier Services will undergo systems upgrade in their application software beginning on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at 5pm and continuing until Monday, May 6, 2024, at 8:30 am.  During that time the Motor Carrier application only, will experience a temporary outage while the software is being upgraded.  Motor Carrier Services transactions will be unavailable online or in a branch during this period.

New IRP/IFTA customers will be provided online access to Motor Carrier Services once an account has been established.

Never logged in or have forgotten your password?

If you do not have existing login credentials or have forgotten your password, you may need to have it reset.

Important: Only one email address per account is permitted.

Please email MCSHQ@SCDMV.NET, include:

  1. Customer number and account name
  2. First and last name of the individual person requesting access
  3. The account taxpayer identification number (TIN)
  4. Power of Attorney Form MC-25 (If you are not the account owner

Which IRP/IFTA transactions can I process online?

If you process IRP/IFTA transactions online, you can receive your needed documents even faster. If you need assistance in the process of completing the transaction online contact the Motor Carrier Services Helpdesk at 803-896-3870.

You can do the following transactions online:

  • Create a New Account
  • IFTA Renew Fleet (MC-7 and Vehicle Listing (VIN#, Year, Make, Model and Plate Number) OR Cab Cards for each vehicle being renewed must be emailed after completion)
  • IFTA Additional Decals
  • IFTA Tax Return and amendments
  • IRP Renew Fleet (MC-7, 2290 and IRP-9 must be emailed after completion)
  • IRP Amend Without Fee; Unit Number Change (IRP Schedule C and IRP-9(If Applicable) must be emailed after completion)
  • IRP Replace Plate
  • IRP Replace Cab Card
  • IRP Duplicate Cab Card
  • IRP Delete Vehicle
  • IRP Add Vehicle 
  • IRP Add W/Transfer
  • IRP Increase/Decrease GVW
