To get an antique license plate, your current title must be surrendered and the SCDMV will issue you a new title marked Antique. The fee for a new title is $15. To qualify for an antique license plate, the automobile or motorcycle must be at least 25 years old. The vehicle is to be used in club activities, exhibits, tours, parades and similar events, but cannot be used for general transportation. Disabled plates are available at any SCDMV branch. You must submit a Disabled License Plate and Placard Application (SCDMV Form RG-007A) with Section 4 Physician's Statement completed by a licensed physician. If you own a vehicle that has a license plate for a person with a disability, you must have the registration card that lists the names of all eligible people with a disability who can drive or be carried in that vehicle. When you renew your plate for a person with a disability, you will receive a new plate and registration. Plates for people who have a disability who drive motorcycles are also available. Businesses are not required to certify with a physician. However, businesses with plates for people with disabilities must carry registration cards. The plate recognizes Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune, who was born in Mayesville, and her many contributions to education. The cost for the plate is $30 every two years in addition to the registration fee. Proceeds from this plate will support the construction of the Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune museum, restaurant, and nature trail and support tourism in Mayesville, Sumter, and South Carolina.

Driven by the Arts license plates are $70 every two years in addition to the registration fee. A portion of the special plate fee, $60, goes to schools and communities across the state for K-12 arts education programs. Proceeds from the sale of this plate are used to support faith-based educational and religious programs. You may also get a personalized version of the plate that contains letters or numbers or both and the “&” symbol. The fee to get this plate personalized includes $30 personalization fee and $25 special plate fee in addition to regular registration fee.

The Zeta Phi Beta license plate is available to all South Carolina Residents who are members of the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority. You must present a membership card or a letter from the state director to be eligible. The fee for the plate is $70 every two years in addition to the regular motor vehicle registration fee. A portion of the fees collected will be used by Zeta Phi Beta for academic scholarships.
