Florence branch to reopen at end of March

March 19, 2018

After the most extensive renovation and expansion in the SCDMV Florence branch’s more than 35-year history, the 3102 East Palmetto Street office will reopen to the public on Monday, March 26, 2018 at 8:30 a.m.

“The Florence branch is updated with eight additional counters to better serve the growing community of the Pee Dee,” said SCDMV Executive Director Kevin Shwedo. “In addition to more counters, the office is now fully ADA compliant. This office is prepared to deliver some of the state’s highest-quality customer service.”

All services will end at the Quinby Plaza location at 5 p.m. on Friday, March 23. The Quinby Plaza location will not open on Saturday, March 24, 2018 for customers. The office must close in order to move all equipment back to the updated location on East Palmetto Street. The SCDMV has operated a temporary location at Quinby Plaza since the East Palmetto Street branch closed for renovations in the fall.

“When considering offices to renovate, the agency evaluates the average wait time for customers, age of the facility, and the size of the office,” Trish Blake, SCDMV’s Director of Administration, said. “We hope the community enjoys the updates.”

“We want customers to know that they should experience no disruptions in service come Monday, March 26,” said SCDMV Deputy Director of Field Services Courtney White. “Customers can expect the same short wait times and friendly faces they’ve come to associate with the agency.”
