Regular, Non-Commercial, and Motorcycle License Skills Testing
All SCDMV branches accept walk-in customers for regular and motorcycle skills tests from 8:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. every day besides Wednesday. On Wednesdays, all branch offices accept walk-in customers from 9:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
Customers must make appointments to take regular and motorcycle skills tests from 2-4 p.m.
Customers will not be able to take knowledge tests after 4 p.m. An appointment is not required for a knowledge test.
If under 17 years old, please ensure you have all the requirements listed for teenage drivers before scheduling your road test.

Commercial License Skills Testing
If you received your commercial learner's permit after February 7, 2022, you will need to complete an FMCSA approved ELDT training program to be eligible to take the CDL Skills test.
Any commercial driver's license (CDL) holder must have an appointment to complete a road test. No walk-in road tests will be conducted.
If applying for a CDL, you must take your skills test at one of the following SCDMV branches, Monday through Friday.
Sumter continues to conduct the classic CDL exam, while other offices give the modernized test.

*Beginning July 15, 2024, the Bennettsville branch offers a new version of the CDL skills test. You may schedule your test at the branches that give the modernized test. If you begin the CDL skills test at other SCDMV branches, you may not finish the test at the modernized branches since the version of the test will be different.
